“Our Lady of Fatima”
At that time Jesus said in reply, “I give praise to you, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, for although you have hidden these things from the wise and the learned you have revealed them to the childlike. Yes, Father, such has been your gracious will.” (Matthew 11:25-26 and Luke 10:21, NABRE)
Starting in 1916 with three different apparitions by the Angel of Peace, followed in 1917 by six different apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary and concluding with a single apparition by Our Blessed Mother in 1920; this is exactly what Papa, God the Father, in His Infinite and Perfect Will chose to do.
Echoing the words spoken by Jesus in the Gospels of Matthew and Luke, God chose three simple shepherd children; Lúcia dos Santos, Francisco Marto and his sister, Jacinta Marto; from the village of Aljustrel, in the township of Fatima, Portugal; primarily through the apparitions of the Blessed Virgin Mary and appearing under the title of “Our Lady of the Rosary“; God chose three “little children” to reveal His message of Love to and to send a plea for repentance to the entire world.
In 1916, on three separate occasions, the Angel of Peace visited the young visionaries, teaching them several different prayers and imploring them to pray without ceasing. The Angel passionately reminded the children that they must, “Offer your prayers and sacrifices to God, the Most High. In every way you can, offer sacrifice to God in reparation for the sins by which He is offended, and in supplication for sinners.”
In this way; catechized in prayer, reparative suffering, the doctrine of the Holy Eucharist, and strengthened by the Bread of Angels, that the children of Fátima were prepared for the visitations of the Queen of Portugal, the Immaculate Virgin Mary.
On 13 May, 1917; Our Lady of the Rosary, Our Lady of Fatima, the Blessed Virgin Mary first appeared to the three shepherd children. As said by Lúcia, the oldest of the Fatima visionaries, “We saw a lady dressed in white… more brilliant than the sun…”
Bathed in the light of Our Blessed Mother’s radiance, Mother Mary said to the children, “Please don’t be afraid of me, I’m not going to harm you.”
Lúcia then asked where Mother Mary had come from and what She wanted of them. Mother Mary replied, “I come from Heaven. I want you to return here on the thirteenth of each month for the next six months, and at the very same hour. Later I shall tell you who I am, and what it is that I most desire. And I shall return here yet a seventh time.”
Prior to leaving, Mother Mary gave the children one final instruction, “Say the Rosary every day, to bring peace to the world and an end to the war.“
Over the course of the next five months, through October 1917, Our Lady of the Rosary, Mother Mary, continued to appear to the three shepherd children on the 13th of each month; except for August 1917. Due to the children being arrested and held in custody, Our Lady appeared to them on the 19th of August, 1917.
During those apparitions, Mother Mary provided many Graces, including; a three-part secret, showing the children a vision of hell, and She lovingly implored them to, “Pray, pray very much. Make sacrifices for sinners. Many souls go to hell, because no one is willing to help them with sacrifice“; and in October 1917, accompanied by Father (Saint) Joseph and the Child Jesus, the “Miracle of the Sun” occurred.
I created this Rosary simply as a heartfelt offering of my love, hope and trust in Our Blessed Mother and her love for me, Her little boy.
It’s my hope, that by praying with this Rosary; it will also be your heartfelt offering of love, hope and trust in Our Blessed Mother and in Her love, care and intercession for you, Her beloved son or daughter.
For me, the greatest promise of hope by Our Lady at Fatima is during the July 1917 apparition. During this apparition, Mother Mary after requesting the Consecration of Russia to Her Immaculate Heart, told the three shepherd children, “(But) in the end my Immaculate Heart will triumph.” The five “First Saturdays” Devotion is to make reparation for the blasphemies and wounds to Mother Mary’s Immaculate Heart.
This handcrafted Rosary was created using Blue-Spot, Jasper gemstone beads for the Ave Maria (Hail Mary) beads, purposely chosen to remind the prayer of Mother Mary’s mantle and her virginity.
Antique-Silver, “Angel of Peace” beads are used for the Pater Noster (Our Father) beads and are meant to remind the prayer of the Angel which first visited the three shepherd children at Fatima.
But more than this, I hope they will remind the prayer of God’s infinite and immeasurable love for each of us and of His loving protection over us. God, Who in His Love for us each of us, gave to us, our own Guardian Angels; to Light, to Guard, to Rule and to Guide us in our pilgrimages back Home to Heaven.
The enameled, Blue and Silver, Clamshell, Our Lady of Fatima, Centerpiece bears an image of Our Lady of the Rosary with the three shepherd children lovingly and reverently kneeling before Our Lady as she speaks to them. The Clamshell symbolically referring to Mother Mary and symbolizing the Divine Conception of Jesus Christ in her body. (Father Johann Rotten, S.M.)
This Rosary is simple yet elegant in its design and construction with the use of fluted, Antique-Silver, spacer beads; Clear, Crystal, accent beads to signal Mother Mary’s innocence and purity; and Silver, Filigree bead caps on the Ave Maria beads.
This Rosary is completed by the use of a two-sided, Italian-made, Antique-Silver, Pardon Crucifix, with the Corpus (body) of Our Lord, Jesus Christ on the front and on the back the words, “Father Forgive Them” inscribed on the Patibulum (horizontal piece) and the words, “Behold This Heart Which Has So Loved Men” inscribed on the Stipes (vertical piece).
